James trained at the National Ballet School of Canada and the Houston Ballet Academy. As a professional Ballett der Deutschen Oper am Rhine in Dusselldorf, Germany, and as a Soloist with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and Ballet British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.He has a[ppeared as a Guest Artist with the Basel Ballet in Switzerland where he danced the lead role of "Spartacus" on the company's tour of South Africa.
James' repertoire includes principal roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, and Romeo and Juliet. He has danced lead roles in ballets by choreographes Nacho Duato, Jiri Kylian, James Kudelka and Ohad Naharin.Also, he originated lead roles in World Premieres by Ib Andersen, Dominique Dumais, Kevin O'Day and Jahn Alleyne. His Balanchine repertoire includes, Agon, Ballo della Regina, Divertimento # 15, Four Temperments, Tarentella and Theme and Variations.
