Whitney Popp
Ballet

Whitney began her training in her hometown of Kenniwick in eastern Washington at the Tri-Cities Academy and then trained
with the Mid-Columbia Ballet under the direction of Debra Rogo. Whitney later studied with the Pacific Nortwest Ballet under
the wing of Patricia Barker, leading her to northern California, becoming a Principal dancer with the Sacramento Ballet.
There in her 5 years with that company, she performed a myriad of diverse roles including "Odette/Odile" in Swan Lake
and "The Cowgirl" in Agnes De Mille's Rodeo, as well as many Balanchine ballets.

After moving to New York, she was discovered by Twyla Tharp, and received rave reviews in works such as The Fugue
and Surfer at the River Styx. She was then chosen to dance the lead roles of "Brenda" and "Judy" in the successful
Broadway musical Movin' Out. She has made multiple tours, particularly to Europe and has enjoyed dancing
Sinatra Suite with her husband.
